Torry Hermann rose to social media stardom for her hilarious portrayals of Russian women in North America, and today, she and comedy move together like hot cocoa and marshmallows on an icy winter's night time.
It's no wonder, then, that on the subject of the Holiday season, she has her fair share of funny festive moments.
TheIssues stuck up with the TikTookay sensation to speak about her favorite (and funniest!) Holiday memory, and spoiler alert: this is like one thing out of a Christmas movie!
Torry Sets The Scene For An Epic Christmas Misadventure
Asked if she'd love to recount her funniest Christmas memory to date, Torry giggles, "oh yes!"
The 12 months used to be 2014, she starts, and "my best friend in Russia was pregnant."
The due date? December 26th.
"Her husband secretly reached out to me and asked if I could fly to see her, because she was feeling very sad and lonely, and scared to give birth."
"I obviously agree," she continues, "and he purchases a ticket for me to fly home for a week."
Torry Reveals The Plot Twist NO One Saw Coming
It all turns out like a sweet concept, the stuff of healthy Hallmark Christmas Specials if you'll...however this is the place it all goes topsy turvy.
On December 13th, Torry gained a decision from her pals' husband: "she went into labor and would be giving birth soon."
Trying to stick calm, she recounts, "I start calling the airline to switch flights, but because it's the busiest time for them (since many immigrants fly home and back), they could only offer me a flight departing in 5 hours - and coming back December 17th."
In essence, she explains, "I would only have about 45 hours in Moscow before I had to fly back to Canada."
Torry Shares What She Took Along For Her Whirlwind Trip To Moscow
Ever the unswerving bestie, Torry modified her flights: "it was the only option for me to possibly arrive at her - possibly - just in time for her to give birth."
"I agree to it and literally grab a purse with 3 pairs of underwear, a makeup bag, contact lenses, and my passport, and head down to the airport."
"Quick flight to Toronto, then a long one to Moscow and - boom! In 19 hours, I'm already in a taxi to the hospital where she is supposedly giving birth."
Plot Twist 2: Torry's Friend Had Already Given Birth Before Her Arrival...But That's Not All!
Thinking again on her arrival on the health center, Torry shares, "I see her husband and parents when I run in, and he says that they did a c-section" - that means that despite her excellent efforts, she'd still missed the delivery.
However, that is not all: "because there were some complications and a possibility of infection, nobody can go inside to see her."
"Basically," she continues, "we all waited in the hospital for a few more hours, but because she was under anesthesia, we were not able to come in."
"So," she half-sighs, half-laughs, "we went to her house, had dinner...and the next morning, I flew back to Canada!"
As With Every Good Christmas Story, This One Has A Great Ending
From Home Alone to The Night Before, lots of the international's best-loved Christmas motion pictures are focused on misadventure - however they all have something in commonplace: a contented ending. Torry's tale isn't any exception to this rule.
"When my best friend recovered and her husband was finally able to see her, she told him, 'you won't believe it, but I swear I heard Victoria's annoying voice! It was a dream, but it seemed so real...like she was right here'."
The merciless irony, a Christmas conundrum, festive folly - on the other hand one chooses to frame this, no person can deny that Christmas 2014 was a memorable one for Torry Hermann.
