The actor had previously stressed that while he’s often asked about a Friends reboot, it’s not even something he would consider.

“We do a whole series, we come back, and nobody cares about it. So if anybody asks me, I'm gonna say no. The thing is: We ended on such a high. We can't beat it. Why would we go and do it again?”
That’s a fair point, but considering how popular Friends has been on streaming platforms such as Netflix, it’s pretty evident that people still love to watch the show — so the idea of a reboot wouldn’t be all that bad.
While Matthew isn’t on board to star in an entirely new series, it seems reuniting with his former cast for a one-off special is about as much as he is willing to do.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, HBO confirmed in May 2020 that the reunion will remain on hold indefinitely.
